BESTING THE BLUES, using meditation and yoga to cope with depression
Wednesdays, January 27 through February 17, 6:30 - 8:30pm, $120, or $100 if registered by January 22

The shorter days are upon us, the holiday festivities are over, leaving us with this stretch of what may seem interminable darkness before us. This period of time between the holidays and those first rays of spring light can be very difficult for those who struggle with depression.

Have you heard the expression “What we resist persists”? Much impact has been made in the treatment of chronic pain, addiction and emotional stress with the training and use of mindfulness practices. In this 4-week series you will practice various mindfulness exercises, moving and still, to help you to become more aware, more present in your life. The premise is that once you accept your feelings, without judgment, without resistance, you can learn what you need to learn from them and move through and indeed past them, allowing you to more fully embrace life with all of its ups and downs.

Previous yoga or meditation experience is not necessary to participate in this workshop.

Session Intensive
Saturday, February 20 and Saturday, April 17, 2:00 – 5:00pm, $38

Here’s an opportunity for you to see what your body could really do when properly warmed up and prepared for a pose! You will surprise yourself! In this three-hour intensive you will work with the theme and focus pose of the 8-week session. With three hours we will dive deeply into all of the aspects of the pose and completely prepare your body to move as deeply as possible into the focus pose. Rather than focusing on just one aspect of the pose as we do of necessity with only 1-1/4 hour class, we will explore all aspects of what it will take to move your body into the particular asana. You will know more completely what exactly it is that stands in your way and very likely find that it is less of an obstacle when you’ve had more time to prepare your body. Be prepared to be amazed. Really!

Prerequisites: Please be registered into the current series to attend the intensive or call to make a request to attend.
